Star Spangled Banner Flag

Task Done, Honor Due
May 2, 2010

The latest Pease Greeter Road Warrior Road Trip was completed on Friday April 30, 2010.  This involved a trip to Charlestown Navy Yard in Boston, Massachusetts. This is the berth of our destination, the USS Constitution of American legend.

As many people are aware, the Star Spangled Banner Project was completed due to the efforts of many individuals and organizations.

Three specific groups were instrumental to the huge undertaking.  It was our intent to honor each group with sister plaques.  A copy of the plaque is shown here.

Piracy will not pay,
while this proud flag flies
for the USA!

             U.S.S. Constitution       U.S.S. Bainbridge      M/V Maersk Alabama

In Appreciation to all Officers and Crew of the above mentioned

United States Ships for their unselfish efforts to bring the

Star Spangled Banner

back to its historic place so all Americans can view it in honor of those who serve this great nation.

With Deepest Respect,

Captain Ed Johnson, USMC (former)

Pease Greeters

With our Road Trip to Virginia, and now the trip to Boston, Massachusetts; we now know that this plaque adorns the decks of the USS Constitution, the USS Bainbridge, and the M/V Maersk Alabama.

Commander Timothy Cooper, skipper of the USS Constitution, graciously allowed his whole crew to attend this brief ceremony.  In fact, you will notice the entire crews’ names written with honor in the exhibit’s logbook.

Intrepid Road Warrior Photographer Scott Mace has uploaded all of the pictures onto the following link as part of the Pease Greeter website.

We thank Commander Timothy Cooper, Bosun Mate 2 Gagnon, and the entire crew of the USS Constitution for their help and hospitality.

Special notice should be given to Jack Connors, and his (how should I say bartering skills) in acquiring an important historical component to the exhibit.  As the Seabees’ say “Can Do!”
